O. V. Vasiliev

Oleg V. Vasiliev was Emeritus Professor of Irkutsk State University, he was mathematician in the field of optimal control and optimization well known and recognized. He was highly educated, experienced and qualified university lecturer. He was a well rounded bright and creative person, minded-open to new methods and tools in science, education and technology. He gained a number of honorary titles and degrees: Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, Professor, Honored worker of Science and Technology of the Russian Federation, member of the American Mathematical Society , Honored Scientist of Buryat Republic; honored worker of Mongolian Public Education.

Administrative activities of Professor Vasiliev were marked by the following milestones: Head of the Department of Computational Mathematics of Irkutsk State University (ISU), the founder and head of the Optimization Methods Department of ISU, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics of ISU, founder and director of the Institute of Mathematics and Economics of ISU, Chairman of PhD Examination Board of ISU. He received many awards and honors throughout his career including the Medal of the Order "For Service to the Motherland" of the 2nd class the Medal "For Valour".
